WANGANUI WINTER MEETING. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for all events at the Wanganui winter meeting, to be held on May 22 and 24, close with the secretary, W. Hall, Wanganui, at 8 o'clock to-night. The programme is a very attractive one and is liberally endowed, the sum of 4345 sovs. being distributed among the 14 events on the two days. Jumpers are well catered for, the principal events on the first day being the Wanganui Steeplechase (about three miles) 700 sovs., and the Century Hurdles (about IV.i miles) 500 sovs., and on the second day the Grandstand Steeples (about 2% miles) i? worth 400 sovs., and the. May Hurdle Handicap (about 1? miles) 350 sovs. There is alos a well-endowed hack steeplechase and hack hurdle, race on the first day and a hack hurdle/race on the second day- The flat racers;are alsowell catered for, the open events on the first day being the Borough Handicap, of 350 sov. (six furlongs) and the Connolly Handicap of 400 sovs. (lVi miles), and on the second day the Winter Oats 300 sovs. (six furlongs) and Empire Handicap 325 sovs. (one mile and a distance). Hacks are also catered for bv a race of a mile and a distance worth 175 sovs. each day, and also a six furlong race worth the same amqunt on the second day. 1

SALE OP PARORANGI STUD.

There was a large and representative attendanoe of sportsmen at the dispersal sale of Mr. E. Short's Parorangi racing stud, which was held at Almadale on Wednesday.
