LOAN- AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford branch), report aa follows: On Friday, April 11, we held our usual monthly sale in our Tarata yards. We had a good average yarding. Bidding was slack In cattle, hut most lines found purchasers at satisfactory values. Lambs in forward condition realised 17s, others 9s to 13s, forward ewes 255, 2-tooth wethers 235, weaner heifers 30s to 50s, weaner steers 40s, 20-moath steers Hi 5s 6d, 20-month empty lieifers £4 5s to £4 15s, in-calf heifers £7 5s to £8 Is, bulls £8 ss. On Tuesday, April 15, we held our usual fortnightly sale In our Stratford yards. Sheep were dull of sale, but cattle were In demand at present ruling values, most lines being qultled under tho hammer or immediately afterwards. Store cows realised £4 to £5 18s, forward conditioned cows £6 15s to £9 9«, 3-year bullocks £ll 12s 6s, 2-year in-calf heifers £7 17s 6d to £9 16s 6d, small heifers £6 10s, Holsteln weaner bulls £3 17s 6d. weaner heifers 50s 6d, cows and calves £5 4s to £lO, cull lambs 7s to 10s. On Wednesday, April 16, we held our usual monthly sale in our Te Wera saleyarda. Bidding was slack, but most lines found purchasers under the hammer or before leaving the yards. 2-year steers (small) realised £6 to £7 8s 6d for good cattle; ln-calf heifers (small) £7 10s, 4 and 5-year ewes 16s 2d. mixed age wethers lis Id. Paddock demand has been quiet recently except In dairy lines, best spring calve 3 being in steady demand. Weaner steers have realised up to 64s 6d for very choice good colored cattle, mixed weaners 41s to 46s 6d, 18-month to 2-year m-calf heifers up to £9 10s, 2%year in-calf heifers £9 9s to £l2, fat heifers and cows £9 12s 6d, 4 and S-ye»r ewes 20s, 4-tooth. wethers 28s 6d to 295.
