Two escapee?, William Otting and Walter Moormeister, from the Featherston internment camp, turned up at Hawcra, where they surrendered to the police. The men, who are steamer firemen, say they have been interned nearly four years and want to get bachto their country to work. A few months ago they were told they would be repatriated, but the orders were changed and they felt very disappointed and disgusted and, to bring matters to a head, escaped from custody.
