Mr. W. N. Ewing, of New Plymouth, who has been indisposed for some time past, is making steady progress towards recovery. A deputation waited on Mr. W. E. Haselden yesterday to urge him to stand for the Hawera mayoralty, but he stated that he had told Mr. Dixon that if he stood he (Mr. Haselden) would not stand against him. Thereupon, Mr. Goodwin, who headed the deputation, said it was now fairly certain that Mr. Dixon would I be returned. j
