MUNICIPAL FISHING VENTURE. By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Auckland, April 22, At the Industries Committee, Mr. J. B, Paterson gave evidence as to municipal trawling. The City Council opened a retail shop, the capital of £20,000 being borrowed by the ratepayers' approval. There had Undoubtedly been a reductipn in the retail price of fish, but, whereas it was thought that fish could be landed at £3 per ton, the cost was about £lO per ton. At present the council's venture was not profitable. It had been handicapped by a trawler being commandeered for mine sweeping.
