BOWLING.

j STRATFORD PAIRS TOURNAMENT. Although the Taranaki pairs tournament was abandoned, the Stratford Club organised a pairs tournament which extended over three days and proved very successful. It was hoped to have a few Eltham and Inglewood teams, but the hope did inot materialise. However, 13 teams nominated, and instead of playing in sections the tournament resolved itself into 12 games by each team. Interest was always keen, and it was noticeable that many of those who have played lead and No. 2 in rink games skipped very successfully against many of the veterans, and next season may see some promotions. Messrs W. McDonald (s ) and J. S: McDonald were the successful pairs, sustaining only two defeats and registering 10 wins, whilst J. W. McMillan (a.) and C. Martin were second with 9 wins. ST. JOHNS v. ELTHAM On Friday Ave rinks from Wanganui visited Eltham, and in the aggregate scored a win by 29 points, the totals being: Si John 130, Eltham 101. In three of the games victory went to Eltham, but in the other two the visitors scored large matgins, and they thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the home team. At Hawera on Monday the St. John's (Wanganui) touring bowlers defeated Hawera in the morning by four points, but in the afternoon Hawera won by 58 points. '
