REINSTATEMENT OF NORTHERN UNION PLAYERS. ATTITUDE OF ENGLISH UNION. By Telegraph—Pre3s Association. Wellington, Last Night. At this evening's meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Football Union the following letter was read: "I beg to inform you that a special meeting of our full committee has been held, at which the position of Northern Union players was considered. At that meeting the views of your union were carefully gone into, and my committee decided that they cannot recommend to the general meeting of clubs any alteration in professional rules. I would point out that, without the rules being altered, they have not the right to delegate further powers of reinstatement to your .union." The matter will t>e discussed by the council of the New Zealand Union at its meeting.
All those interested in football are reminded of the important meetings which are to be held in the Soldiers' Club tomorrow evening, when an endeavor will be made to re-establish the two local clubs this season. In the old days the names of Star and Tukapa were'something to conjure with, and it is hoped that all old members and young enthusiasts imbued with the traditions of the clubs will attend the meeting tonight and enable both clubs to be reestablished on a sound footing.
