THE PEACE CONFERENCE.
CHINA'S CLAIMS. ABROGATION OF TREATIES WITH JAPAN. Received April 21, 0.35 p.m. New York, April 20. A New York Times' Paris telegram report's that China's claims, which will be presented to.the Peace Conference; demand the complete abrogation of the two treaties between China and Japan signed on May 25, lftla, dealing with the Shantung province, southern Manchuria, and eastern and inner Mongolia. China declares that she was compelled to sign the treaties under pressure, and likens Japan's attitude and behaviour towards her to Austria's towards Serbia. The Chinese delegates will tell the Conference that Japan prevented China from entering the war when she wished to do so in August, 1914, and November, 1015—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. GERMAN DELEGATES LEAVE TO-DAY. Received April 2'l, 9.25 p.m. New York, April 20. A United Press message from Berlin states that the German peace delegates leave for Paris on April 22.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. GERMAN DELEGATES MUST HAVE FULL POWER. Received April 22, 12.55 a.m. Paris, April 20. The Allies have notified the <c3rmans that they must send representatives with full power to act at Versailles. No messengers are wanted.—Reuter. POLICY AS TO PRELIMINARIES. Received April 22, 12.5 a.m. Paris, April 17. M. Pichon states that the peace preliminaries will only be submitted to Parliament after signature. This will be the policy of all the Allies.
