J NEW PLYMOUTH v. ST. JOHN'S The annual friendly match between the New Plymouth ' and St. John's (Wanganui) Clubs was played on Saturday morning, when the visitors were defeated by more than a two to one score. Mr. A. K. Smart, vice-president, welcomed the visitors, and expressed satisfaction at the renewal of the Ea9ter trip. Mr. Christie, in a characteristically humorous speech, acknowledged the greeting. He said they had brought back the "cup" which had been won from the local club last year. . They had had it mounted and an inscription plate fixed on the base. At the conclusion of the match Mr. Christie presented the cup to the winners, congratulating them on their victory and hoping they would put their inscription upon it and that it would be the coveted trophy of many a future struggle. The speeches wero interspersed with catchy original songs by the visitors, typical of bowling topics. Following are the scores, New Plymouth players being mentioned firßt in each case:—

ST. JOHN'S v. FITZROY. The annual visit of St, John's teams is always productive of an enjoyable time on the local greens, and they have such an extensive fund of good humor, while their voices are so well blended in their bowling "hymns," that additional pleasure is derived from their visit. After being welcomed by the Fitzroy president, Mr. S. J. Smith, Mr. Christie quaintly acknowledged the compliment and produced a banner from his vest pocket which, when suitably mounted, was to be competed for annually. At the close of the game more songs were rendered and cheers exchanged. Details of scores are:—
