TARANAKI EASTER TOURNAMENT. i * RECORD GATHERING.
The 14th annual tournament under the auspices of the New Plymouth Golf Club, which commenced at the Waiwakaiho links on Saturday, gives every indication of being the most successful yet held by the club. Record entries have been received, the majority of the clubs in Taranaki being represented, whilst competitors are present from Wanganui, Feilding, Palmerston North, Te Aroha, and other places. The three scratch men-—! Saundere (Wanganui), G, Saunders (Wanganui), and H. L. Young (Palmerston North) all qualified. For the opening day the weather was fine, though a tricky wind added to the zest and made play a little difficult, whilst the keenness of the putting greens proved rather disconcerting to some of the competitors In spite of all drawbacks some good play was shown, and indications point to the championship being keenly contested- All the arrangements were very complete, whilst the committee and secretary (Mr. W. H. Wood) have left nothing undone to ensure the success of the gathering. Mr. .T. Paton again has charge of the scoring book, which is kept right up to the moment. Detailed results:—
