RAHOTU. . ... | (Prom Our Own Correspondent). A meeting of settlers was held at the Kahu.l road Bcbool on Saturday, 12th inst., to see what arrangements could be made to improve the bad stale of the Wlremer road. About 20 settlers were present. Mr. Cassle was voted to the chair, and stated that some time ago the Government had placed £I4OO on the Estimates for having the Wiremer road, front the Newall to the Ngariki formed. The County Council at that time had so much work in hand that they could not find time to have the money spent, and the grant lapsed. He thought they should ask the Government to reinstate the grant of £I4OO, also to ask the Egmont County Council to give a subsidy providing the Government reinstate the grant. A strong committee, consisting of the following gentlemen, was appointed to take the matter in hand: For Ngariki road, Mr. T. Wlllcox, Mr. W. Wright; Kabul road, H. Kltcheman, \V. Larkin, a. Wllloughby, W. Fleming; Newall road, J. Ducker, ST. Kavlp, and A. CassJe. It was derided to wait on the Hon. Minister of Public Wijrks on ijis coming visit to tlje -district, and . njk for grant to have the road.formed and bripged. a : Miss Mary Hughson,. who is tojba maiTiejl; shortly, gave a farewell afternoon fl) me pupifi) of her sunday schtol class.
