MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the New P?y» ;; mouth Borough Council was held last night, there being present the Major (Ml/ f C. H, Burgess), Crs. Q. W. Browne, W» A. Collis, E. Subsequently a meeting of the works committee was held, the same councillor* being present. > * TAXI VEHICLE STAND, Messrs. A. K. Collins and W. B. Fatoa asked permission to have their stand for < < taxi cars in Currie Street changed toDevon Street between Teed and Oo.'s .. shop and the Bank of New Zealand WT' ' ner. ■ •

The borough inspector reported agkiait the proposal, and suggested a staid in front of the A.MP. buildings in DeTon Street, or in front of the NX Insurance Company's office in Brougham Street, behind the present cab stand. It was decided that the council oould not see its way to alter the taxi ear stand.

In this connection the inspector pointed out that there were three mom «• presses plying for hire, and a stijkd for them ahould be considered as veQ is lor the taxis.—lt was decided that titer should stand behind the taxis in Cume Street. CARRIERS' CHARGES.

The secretary of the New Plymouth Carriers' Association wrote stating that in consequence of the pretmt Ujp Qoat of living, as well as the abaonttuj nigh prides of fodder, shoeing and we carriers had been compelled to {ficftase the charges for the carriage ot good*. A schedule of the new charges was submitted, and the council was asked to amend its bylaws relating to confers or to hold them in abeyance until conditions became normal.

DARTMOOR ESTATE ROADS.

Twenty residents on the Dartmoor Es* tate petitioned the council to initmct the engineer to do some work on the NHi in that estate.
