RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION.
The apathy of the ratepayers of New Plymouth in connection with municipal matters was evident last night by the very sparse attendance at the meeting held in the Soldiera' Club for the purpose of forming a Nqw Plymouth ratepayers' association. On the motion of Mr. Tribe, who convened the meeting, Mr. F, B. Wilson was voted to the chair. * Various speakers referred to the apparent lack of interest shown, and Mr. Tribe said that he thought that as so little interest was taken in the formation of an association for the whole town it would be best to just carry on with the separate associations. He moved that, owing to the lack of interest displayed by ratepayers by not attending or being represented at this meeting, the question of forming a ratepayers' association stand adjourned. Mr. F. E. Wilson seconded. Mr. Hughes moved as an amendment that the meeting adjourn until Thursday night. Mr. A. J. Richards seconded, and, after further discussion, the amendment was carried.
