FOOTBALL.
OKATO cure. The annual meeting of the Okato Football Club was held in the Okato Hall on Saturday night, Mr. R. C. Larsen presiding over an attendance of about 20. The meeting was very enthusiastic, and it was decided to reform the Club and enter a team under the Rugby Union's competition, but, as most of the players would be young and inexperienced, it was considered It would be ; advisable to enter a team in the Junior competition. The balance sheet, which was adopted, showed a debit of £1 12s Id for the two seasons 1915 and 1916. The cash in hand from the season 1914 was £l7 lis 7d, and the cash now in hand was £ls 19s 6d. The report regretfully mentioned the death of two prominent old members, Messrs James Doyle and O. Julian. Thirty-two members had answered the Empire's call and seven had made the supreme sacrifice, namely, Lieut. E. L. Malone, M.C., Reg. Hill, J. Burrows, Harry Corbett, H. Oordgo, W. Simpson and L. Newlove. The chairman asked those present to stand for a minute as a mark of respect for those who had fallen. The secretary was instructed to inquire re green jerseys. As it Is understood these are almost unprocurable the club may have to select some other color. The first practice was fixed for Saturday, April 26.
