POLITICS AND WELFARE LEAGUE.
*o the Editor. Sir,—Various comments ate appearing In all our newspapers about the formation in Wellington of a new political party, termed ™he Welfare Political Party." At the present juncture this small coterie has a domination ot lawyers as Its composition. As far as this district is concerned rumor says a prominent Tory and Reformer was appointed as a delegate to attend the initial meeting. It is well Known that the Reform Party are at their wit's end to devise a scheme to cntch on with the people. Electors, fight shy of this Welfare League. You know now how Reform bit you. '•Welfare" looks like Masseyism and Reform In disguise. The man in the street says a New Plymouth gentleman is already chosen as i Welfare's nominee. In othor words, the Tories, alias Reformers, are out to catch those who are full up of the prosent Government and strengthen Masseyism. The old Tory Party* got an awful knock at the la§t by-election in Tara--1 naki and wish to try every move on the board to regain their position.—l am, etc., "VOX POPULI."
