ALIENS RESTRICTION BILL. London, April 1. The new Aliens' Bill operates for two years, and continues the 1913 Aliens' Restriction Act. In the Ilpuse of Commons Mr. Short announced that there were now 5000 alien enemies in Britain, 41 had been released since the armistice and 20,980 repatriated—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CABLE DELAYS. London, April 1. The newspapers are urging Government action regarding cable delays. Hongkong, April 1. The Chambers of Commerce demand that the naval wireless stations be utilised to relieve the cable congestion. — Aus.-N.Z. Cabl Assn. COST OF WAR SUBSIDIES. London, April 8. Mr. Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, said that the bread subsidy cost 50 millions a year, payments under the railway agreements 50 millions a year, and unemployment donations £1,250,000 per week. —Aus.-N.Z.
