JUNCTION ROAD, MATAU.
To the Editor. Sir, —Will you kindly allow me space h your paper to ventilate our grievance re.the Junction Koad, Matau. What the fettlere wish to know is whetlier any means can he employed to compel the AVhanga Council to open the said road ;f6r wheel traffic, or otherwise advertise ,it as dangerous. It has been blocked by slips and a washout for nearly 12 months, and the council has been asked several times to have it opened, but up to the present time nothing has been ; jpne. In October last, Mr. Jennings. M.P,. (•was interviewed, and said we could com'pel them to give us access; to our railway. Settlers are wanting lime for the land and timber to build, and are held up for want of a road to get it in. Several traps and gigs have got as far as the slips and lmd to go buck. A car came in from Stratford on Sunday and liad the greatest difficulty in turning, »nd had a very narrow escape from going over the side. At Christmas time a [family drove from Ohura and had to leave the cart and harness on the road and then walk to their friends. T think ft is high time something was done.—l jam, etc., r SETTLER. Matau, April S.
