It is reported at Washington that the War Department will issue a call for 50,000 volunteers for European service, for the purpose of replacing a similar number of drafted soldiers in France.

The Evening Sun's Paris correspondent reports that the French are already mobilising the elements of the old Salonica army, in order to conduct a military campaign against the Bolsheviks along the eastern barrier. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times says that three (delegates to the Irish Race Congress will be granted passports to sail to Paris on April 20 for the purpose of presenting the Irish freedom claims to the Peace Conference. —Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
LEAGUE OF NATIONS AMENDMENT New York, April 9. Dispatches from Paris say that the Australian delegates have pointed out that the proposed amendment to the League of Nations covenant, recognising the Monroe doctrine, would validate and confirm Japan's claims to preponderance in China. Experts in Oriental mattera are trying to find a formula for overcoming the objection.
