LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows: On Tuesday, April 1, we held our usual fortnightly sale In our Stratford yards, when we disposed of a small entry under the hammer and afterwards. The demand for store cows was a little easier. Store cows (low conditioned) realised 50s to 90s and up to £7 17s for big-framed cows, 2%-yeaT steers, £7 19s, Holstein weaner bulls 70s, mixed woiiners 43s 6d, cull ewes 9s lOd to 10s lOd, lambs 7s Gd to 13s, 4-tooth Romney rams 1% to 2gus On Wednesday, April 2, we held our usual monthly sale in our Kohuratahl yards, in conJunction with Mr. Newton King We had a full yarding, which with the exception of a pen of steers, were ali sold under the hammer. Three and a-half-year bullocks realised £9 103 to £ll, mixed weaners 51s, 15/18-month steers 70s to 82s 6d, store cows £5 7s 6d to £7 2s Cd, lambs 9s, 4 and 5-year ewes 10s to 10s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 20s 3d to 27s'9d. On Friday, April 4, we held our usual monthly sale in our Matau yards, but owing to the heavy rains during the evening and morning preceding the sale outside buyers were absent. Lambs realised 10s 8d to 14s Bd, 4-tooth and fm. Romney rams 15s to 245, 15/18-month steers 73s fid to 84s, in-calf heifers £8 to £8 5s 6d, store cows £5 6s to £6 ss, 15-month empty heifers 74s 6d. During the week demand has been good for young sheep. Prices for the week as follows 20-month empty heifers £4 10s to £5 2s Gd, mixed weaners 47s Cd to 54s 6d, 2% -year in-calf heifers up to £lO, forward and fat cows £lO 10s, 18-month steers £4 17s 6d to £5 10s, 2-tooth wethers 25s 6d to 275, 2-tooth ewes 25s 9d to 20s 9d, lambs 10s 6d to 12s 6d.
