MUNICIPAL MATTERS.

FITZROY FORMS RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION.

A public meeting was held at Fitzroy last night to consider the question of forming a Ratepayers' Association; There were about thirty present, Mtf K._ Griffiths, who presided, outlined the: object of the meeting which was to pro« tect the interests of the ratepayers and to stimulate interests in borough mats ters in conjunction with similar assoi ciations existing in Westown and Vogeltown, and he metioncd particularly the matter of nominating members for the Borough Council.

A number of matters were discussed, the conditions of tho streets beeing the chief topics. Among the speakers were Messrs Jas. Kibby, Outfield, IFoote," S. J. Smith, and Grover.

It was eventually decided to form an association, and a committee was elected consisting of Messrs E. Griffiths Outfield, Kibby, Foote and Parkin, Mr 0. Johnson consenting to aot as secretary.

It was decided that the final selection of candidates for the Borough Council should be left in the hands of the Executive Committee.
