MORE LINERS UX THEIR WAY.
By Telegraph.—i-i-ess .Association. Wellington, April S. Official advice has been received that four more liners have left the United Kingdom with returning drafts en route to New-Zealand. These are the Kia Ore, due May S, with a complement of 979, the Northumberland, due May 9 with a complement of 1330 men, the Paparoa, due May 12 with a complement of 580, and the Carpentaria, due May 13 with a complement of 575 men. The Devon left Suez on April 5 for New Zealand and it is understood that she also has troops on board. This, exclusive of the Devon's complement, brings the total of New Zealand troops on the water en route to the Dominion to 10,862.
MAORIS AT GISBORNE. Gisborne, April 8. Glorious weather favored the reception of the East Section of the Pioneer Battalion, which arrived by the Mapourika from Auckland this morning, accompanied by the Defence Minister and Sir James Carroll. The town was gay with bunting, and large crowds assembled to greet the returned warriors, who marched through the streets, They entrained for the Park, where a big Native assemblage, attended by representatives of the various tribes in the North Island, is being held. Here they were received with war dances, amidst great enthusiasm. The proceedings subsequently, according to Maori custom, developed into a tangl for those who bad failed to return,
