The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, repor:t— At Westfleld store sale on Thursday last dairy cows and heifers were penned In average numbers and sold at late rates. Best dairy cows and heifers £l2 to £l7 ss, others £8 10s to £ll 10, store cattle were penned In large numbers, and—as of late—were dull of sale, Empty cows and heifers £5 10s to £B, bulla £5 to £lO 10s, calves, best £2 to £2 15s, others 10s upwards, yearlings to 18-month steers £4 to £6 10s, yearling to 18-month heifers £3 10s to £3 15s, On Tuesday, at Papakura, we held our monthly sale, when we had a large yarding. Dairy cows and heifers sold—for anything close lo profit—at b'sh prices. Backward cows and heifers were hard to quit, and prices for these were easier. Best dairy cows £l2 to £2O, beat heifer £lO to £l9, other cows £ 7to £ll 10s, other heifers £6 10s to £9 10s, aged and Inferior cows £3 to £6 10s. The demand for calves was keen, practically all selling at highest values. Other store cattle sold at late rates. No grown cattle were yarded. Two to 3-year-old steers £8 to £lO 10s, yearling to 18-month steers £4 5s to £7 2s 6d, steer calves, best £2 to £3 ss, others 15s upward, heifer calves, best £1 15s to £2 17s, others 10s upwards, yearling to 18-month heifers £3 10s to £6, heifers suitable for dairy purposes £5 10s to £8 15s, bulls £6 to £ls, according to weight and quality. A large quantity of beef sold under keen competition at fully Westfield prices. At Westflcld on Wednesday beef was penned In extra largo numbers. Choice ox to £2 lis per 1001b, others £2 6s to £2 10s per 10011), cow and heifers beef £2 3s to £2 8s pre 1001b, steers sold at from £4 10s to £2O 15s, cows and heifers sold at from £8 to £lB 2s 6d. Calves: Runners made from £5 53 to £8 2s 6(1 for a heifer from Mr. F. Burgoyne, Clevedon; heavy vealers £3 to £5 Is, medium £2 5s to £2 18s, light £1 10s to £2 2s 6d, small and freshdropped 4s to £1 6s. Sheep were penned in average numbers and sold at late rates. Best wethers (no extra heavy penned) £1 14s 6d to £1 18s 6d, others £1 8s to £1 13s 9d, small and unfinished £1 3s to £1 7s 9d, best ewes £1 7s to £1 13s, medium £1 2s 6d to £1 6s 6d small and unfinished 18s to £1 2s 3d, Infer'or 8s upwards. Lambs were penned In less numbers than usual and sold at late rates. Best £1 4s to £1 8s Od, medium £1 to £1 3s 9d, small 15s to 19s 6d, unfinished 10s upwards. Pigs were penned in slightly more than average numbers and, owing to the large yarding of calves, were sold late In tho day, tho demand declining as the sale proceeded. Prices were not quite up to last week. Heavy baconers £5 to £6 12s, light £4 2s 6d to £4 18s, heavy porkers £3 12s to £4, medium £3 to £3 llj small £2 to £2 19s, weaners 14s to 16s.
