STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)' (All communications, letters, etc., left with Mr H. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt mention,) I Stratford, Saturday. The committee of the Model Dairy Farm has made arrangements with Mr. J. W. Boon to build a shed 30ft by 14ft in concrete for £l2O. The milk supply to the factory for April 1 was Go2lbs. Mr. 6. Jones, Mahoe, has received notification that his son, Sergeant D. Jones, M.M., is arriving by the Maheno, due at Auckland about the 20th inst. Sergeant Jones has been away over three years, having left with the 9th Reinforcements. The Mahoe and other friends will be pleased to see the soldier home once again. Another soldier well known in Stratford who is on board the Kaikoura, due about the 17th, is Trooper J. P. Caskey, eldest son of Mrs. H, Katwright, Stratford. Trooper Caskey has been away over 3 years. His mother sent four sons; one has already returned, and the other two are stationed in Germany and France.

A friendly game of tennis between Toko and Huiroa teams was decided at Toko recently. The visitors sustained a big defeat, the aggregate being: Toko, 109 games; Huiroa, 53. A return match will be played in due course. Toko hospitably entertained the visitors.

Although shipping arrangements are far from being regular or satisfactory, Mr. C. E. James has been fortunate in landing some splendid sets of English china tea-sets, ranging in price from £1 18s to £2 2s Od (21 pieces). Later on, dinner and other sets are expected. Those in need of tea-sets would be well advised to call and see Mr. James' shipment, which are unique in design and the prices are unapproachable. Still a good range of ladies' hand-bags to clear.—Advt.
