AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, April 4. Barley.—English malting, 5s 3d to'ss 6d; Cape, 4s to 4s 2d. Oats.—Algerian, milling 4s 6d to 4s 7d, feed 4s 2d to 4s 4d. Potatoes, £9 10s to £l9. Onions, £6 10s to £lO, ADDINGTON MARKET. Clirlstchurcli, April 2. At Addington market there was a fairly Urge entry of stock, fats showing an Increase. Fat cattle were practically without change, but fat sheep and fat lambs again dropped in price from 2s to 3s per head, there being very little competition for export owing to space in the works getting scarce. Store sheep were easier by Is 6d to 2s per head, the continued dry weather and scarcity of feed seriously affecting the position regarding stock both tor the immediate future and for the coming winter. Store cjttle were dull of sale. Fat pigs sold well, but weaners were not much In demand. Store sheep—Best 2-tooth ewes 27s to 27s 9d, other 2-tooth ewes 21s to 26s 6d, 4, 6 and 8tooth ewes 21s 7d to 29s Bd, good 2-tooth wethers 24s 9d to 275, 4 and 6-tooth wethers 28s 9d to 265, good mixed sex lambs 15s 3d to 16s, medium 13s 6d to 14s Id, cull lambs down to 5s Id, ewe lambs 19s. Fat sheep—Extra prime wethers 42s Od, prime wethers 30a to 35s H lighter wethers 25s 6d to 29s 6d, extra prime ewes 42s 9d, prime ewes 27s 8d to 84s 6d, medium ewes 23s 6d to 275, lighter ewes 18s 9d to 235, merino ewes 10s 6d. Fat lambs—Extra prime to 30s, prime 24s 6d, to 28s 6d, medium 21s to 24b, lighter 15b 6d to 20s. Fat cattle—Extra prime steers £23 15s, ptlme steers £ls to £2l, ordinary steers £l2 15s to £l4 10s, extra prune heifers £ls 2a 6d, prime heifers £lO to £l4 10s, ordinary heifers £0 10s to £9 10s, extra prime cows £ls 2s 6d, prime cows £ll to £l3 2a 6d, ordinary cows £7 to £lO 10s. Store cattle—Calves 30s to 70s, eighteenmonth steers £6 5s to £7, 2-year steers £lO, dry cows £4 17s 6d to £7, bulls £6 to £l2 17s 6d, dairy cows £7 to £l7. : Pigs—Choppers £5 to £9 10s, baconers £5 to £8 17s, equal to 9%d per lb; porkers £2 15s to £4 10s, equal to 10% d to 10% d per lb ; best stores' £3 to £3 16s, medium £2 8s to £2 18s, small stores 25s to 38s, weaners 7s 6d to 16s. BURNSIDE STOCK BALE. Dunedln, April 2, At Burnside yards 205 fat cattle were penned. The quality was medium, :the entry consisting chiefly of cows„and heifers. Good quality ox beef met with good competition', and prices were well up. to late rates. Cow beef was in poor demand, and prices were lower by fully £1 a head.! Best bullocks £l7 10s to£l9, extra to £2||!los, medium to good £ls to £l6 15s best ce*s and heifers £l2 to £l3s, medium to good/ ; £10 to-£ll, light £8 10s to £9 10s The hUniber o£ sheep penned was, 2484. Only a small proportion' was good quality. Ewes were In goodisupply. The demand for prime wethers and b*t ewes was fairly keen, and prices advanced 'ls 6d a head Medium quality sold at late rates. Best wethers 42s to 46s good 38s to 40s, medium 32s to 345, light 27s to 80s best ewes 38s to 40s, extra to 49s 6d, good 32s to 345, light 25s to 28s. There were 1453 lambs penned. The quality was hardly up to last week's standard. Freezing buyers operated carefully, and prices hardly came up to late rates. Best 27s to 28s 3d medium to good. 24s to 25s 6d. light 20s to 22s' There was a good yarding of fat and store pigs, prices for best baconers wore firm at late prices. Choppers and porkers showed a decline, and stores realised recent values
