ALCOHOL (QUESTION.—When Prohibition is carried on 10th April, will alcohol be procurable for medicinal purposes? Answer.—Yes. Section 19, subsection 2, of the Licensing Amendment Act, 19181, states:--"Nothing in this section shall extend or apply to the importation, manufacture, or sale, in accordance with regulations made by the Governor-General in Council in that behalf, of intoxicating liquor for medicinal, scientific, eacramental, or industrial .purposes exclusively." THE MINISTER OF HEALTH has in this connection made the following statement:— "In the event of National Prohibition being carried the Public Health Department would have to carry stooks of alcohol for medicinal purposes. To get this medicine people would require certificates, and arrangements would be made for Government doctors to give these certificates free of «harge."
