DISTRICT NEWS.
TABIKI. (From, Our Travelling Reporter) April 3. Although Thursday was far irom be ing the bust of nights the welcome home reception tendered to eighteen returned soldiers fulfilled expectations, the hall being crowded with delighted relatives 1 and friends of the soldiers, there being ft good number of the latter in khaki. The committee, with the chairman (Air A. E. Laurence), and secretary (Mr R. •Hoskin), spared no efforts to secure the pleasure of al', the floor having undergone a special preparation, whilst the music by the Inglewood Trio, Miss Kerr and Messrs Stockman and Sutherland, was voted the best heard in the hall. During the evening Mi; Laurence, in the course of a few remarks, expressed the pleasure of the Tariki relatives and friends at the safe arrival of so many of the soldiers who had gone from this district to take part in the "great adventure." There were still more due to arrive, and he hoped these would alio receive a warm and royal welcome. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of the ladies, who provided a spread that secured unstinted attention and the approval of all present. Mention should he mode of a recitation contributed by Mr Bishop, which was heartily applauded by delighted dancers
