INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Travelling Reporter.) Ihglewood, April 2.
April 1 was at one time usually associaled with practical jokes, ond evidently there are a few who view any dealings on that day with suspicion. Yesterday an Inglevvood party telephoned a New Plymouth lady to come out to some local function. The lady accepted the invitation and mads the journey. When she reached here she discovered it was All Fools' ]Jay, and promptly joined the train then leaving for New Plymouth. Her relative's waited in vain for her arrival, and there was a vac-ant chair at the table. As things went, an angry lady made a journey for nothing, a family were disappointed, and the railway department collected au extra fare. All this could have been saved by a little thought on the lady's part, or a little more promptitude on the part of the Inglewood people in meeting the train. Mr. Baker, who has been teller at the Bank of New Zealand here for some time, has been promoted to the position of accountant at the Greymonth branch. His successor, Mr. Carmichael, is from the Petone branch.
