FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT.
RETURNED SOLDIER KILLED.
Mastertou, March 31. Private W. F. Gooding, of Featherston, died in the Greytown Hospital on Saturday morning, as the result of injuries sustained in a motor accident on Tuesday last. It appears that he, with his brother Charles, was returning from the Medical Board, and was going to visit his sister, Mrs. 11. Wenham, of South Featherston when on going froiji one side of the road to the other, on account of new metal on the road, the car skidded and overturned Deceased was pinned by the windscreen the glass penetrating his left hip and holding him down. Charles Gooding, the driver, had his right arm broken. 'Both men were conveyed to Greytown Hospital, where they received immediate attention The ease of Private W. E. Gooding was Very serious, and although the best of attention was given he passed away on Saturday He was the. fourth son of the late Mrs. Jacob Gooding, of Western Lake, and was 3(1 year-; of n ..,> He had only returned from the front about three weeks ago, after an absence of ovfcr two years, having left with the Nineteenth Reinforcements. At the inquest held yesterday by the district coroner a verdict was returned that deceased met lus death as the result of a motorcar accident. '
