GOLF.
WITIORA CLUB ANNUAL MEETING? The annual meeting of the Witiora Golf Club was held last niglit, Mr. George Grey (club captain) presiding. The report of the captain stated, inter alia, that the club had held its own dur-. ing the year, both in the matter of membership and finance. There was a credit at the bank of £lO 2s, and at the savings bank of £2l. Several additional gentlemen members had joined during the year, though the club had lost some lady members. Few matches were played during the year. The senior championship was won by Mr. Elliott, and the junior by Mr. Hurlstone. General approval was expressed at the work done by the caretaker, the greens being in excellent order. General appreciation was expressed of the action of the committee in lengthening the course by the addition of Addenbrooke's hole. Thanks were expressed for the services of the officers, especially those of Mr. Cornev, who acted as treasurer for part of the year. The report was adopted, on the motion of the chairman and Mr. J. Connett. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. O'Callaghan; vicepresidents, Archdeacon Evans, Messrs T. K. Skinner, and J. S. S. Medley; captain, Mr. G. Grey; vice-captains, Mr. W. 11. Broome; committee, Messrs V. Elliott, W. H. Broome, C. Bond, J. Cannell, and G. A. Corney; treasurer, Mr. R. H. George; auditor, Mr. V. Elliott; secretary, Mr. J. S. S. Medley. GENERAL. The captain expressed his willingness to donate a prize of £2 2s for a competition to be decided upon by the committee. The subscription was fi.ved at the same amount as last year for men .(£2 15s, reducible to £2 5s if paid by the end of May), and for ladies £1 10s (reducible to £1 5s if paid by the same date). Messrs Broome, Reader, and Medley were appointed a grounds committee. They were instructed to provide the caretaker with a list of the members, the caretaker being authorised to collect green fees, which were fixed at 2s per player. It was decided to offer the free use of the links to returned soldiers in uniform. Votes of thanks were passed to the club captain and officers and to the press. The New Plymouth (Stold Club opens its season at the Waitf'akaiho links on Saturday next. Entries for-the mixed foursomes close to-morrow with Mr. Denv-Brown or Mr. Wood. Partners will be drawn.
