■DEFENCE FORCE'S PAY. Wellington, March 2f>. The new scale of pay and allowances for the New Zealand defence forces announced to-day involves substantial increases for officers of all arms of the service, thus placing Xew Zealand officers on- a more equal footing with those serving in other Empire forces- The new rates of pay for the Expeditionary force abroad and oh home service take effect as from April 1. 1018. The former camp and field allowances are reduced, a notable feature being that all officers are placed in positions of equality in this respect. DIRECTOR GENERAL OF MEDICAL SERVICES.
