PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
SUBSCRIPTIONS ACKNOWLEDGED. In connection with the forthcoming peace celebrations, the local committee invite the public to subscribe towaids providing some kind of entertainment for the evening of Peace Day. Funds for the day functions are being provided bv the municipal authorities, which are subscribed by the Government, but. if eveniiHT celebrations are to be held the general public must be looked to for the means for carrying them out. All such subscriptions carry Government suh=idv at the same rate as the. municipal contributions. Subscriptions will be received at the Daily News' office and acknowledged through its columns The committee acknowledges the following amounts: I Borough Council, £2OO.
