EGYPT.
REASON FOR OCCUPATION. INCOMPETENCE OF NATIVES. Received March 29, 5.5 p.m. New York, March 28. The New York Times, commenting on the reported nationalist riots in Egypt, points out that Egypt came under British rule through the incompetence of the native Government. The paper says if Egypt is given its independence now probably in a few years the country will be in a turmoil. It adds that Britain is prepared to give the Egyptians selfgovernment by degrees as they fit themselves for the responsibility.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc. STERN AND REPRESSIVE MEASURES.
