PERSONAL.

The Rev. W. A. Sinclair leaves for Wellington this morning en route for Sydney. Sir James Allen, Acting Premier, will arrive in New Plymouth on Wednesday evening. On the following day lie opsna the new High School building. Mr A. 0. Turnbull, Inspector of the Lands and Survey Department, has been appointed secretary to the Public Service Commission. Mr Turnbull has been at the front for about three year* and has not yet returned. ; A cablegram from London states that the Bishop of Oxford, the Rt. Rev. Qhaa. Gore, D.D., lias resigned after having filled the position since 1011. He is, now in his C7th year, and is the author of a number of ecclesiastical works.

SergV-Major C. G. Davis, who has been in Egypt and Gallipoli for the past four yean, has just returned to New Zealand and is spending a few davs with his brother, Mr A. R. 'Davis, at Frankley Road.

The members of the staff of Messrs Halllwell, Sprutt and Thomson bade farewell to their chief. Mr H. Halliwell, on Saturday, and presented him with a large frnmed photograph of the members of the firm and the staff.

Private D. S. MacLeod :s returning to Eltham and will arrive in Auckland by the Westmorland, on April sth. Donald left with the Main Body, and has won the D.C.M He is one of the six soldier sons of Mr and Mrs MacLeod, of Chiselhurst. and the fourth to return home. One is still remaining in Rngland, and one made the supreme sacrifice.—Argus.

One of the soldiers who arrived in EHham on Thursday night from the Ajana, is Sergeant Stun Neilson, n member of a well-known Eltham fami.lv, and a cordial welcome was accorded him. Serjeant. Neilson, who volunteered when quite a youth, hart been almost all throug'i the lampaign. Another soldier who arr'ved by the Ajana, and who for a time resided in Eltham, is Private E. A Wylie.

The numerous friends of Dr. Walker Willie pleased to know that the improvement in his condition for the last few days is being Bteadilv maintained.
