That one thing is a child, and one of the most fascinating children ever born is surely little Mary McAlister, who is a sheer sunbeam in the lissanay picture, "Pants," commencing to-day at the People's. "Pants" is the ridiculous name of the picture. If you are at all human you will be delighted by this beautiful story of childhood. The latest gazette and travelog of Canada are also on the bill. MATINEE TO-DAY AT 2 p.m. An event of considerable importance in picture circles was the appearance last light at Everybody's of the great Nazimora iii "Toys of Fate." The celebrated Russian star makes a bewitching princess of the Gypsies, in "Toys of Fate," and she portrays the part with all the fiery, untrammelled nature of that picturesque race. Love and hatred are almost developed in the Gypsy girl who is made the instrument of fate in bringing to justice Bruce Griswold, a millionaire. Her life in the Gypsy encampment and in the caravan of her tribe is depicted in a fascinating manner, and the Gypsy rites and customs help to give charm and romance. The production is done on an exceptionally lavish scale, but it is the central figure created by Nazimova that will enchain the attention of all visitors to this theatre. She plays her part with unique charm of manner and artistic, forcefulness that puts the film in a place by h self. "Toys of Fate" shows at the matinee this afternoon and finally tonight.
