OPENING UP THE INTERIOR.
<■ A SOLDIERS' SETTLEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. ' The Hon. Guthrie states that Cabinet has approved the purchase of 13,000 acres of land, known as Keparoa Block, which will be available for settlement by soldiers. The block is situated 25 miles from Rotorua, and is suitable for dairy farming. The Minister says the requisition of this land is the first important step towards opening up the vast tracts in the interior of the North Island. The bulk of the block was rich i swamp land.
