Tlio death of Air J. D McGregor, which took place on Monday afternoon, removes a popular figure (pays the Wang.miu Curonicle) from our midst. As a boy of three he came with his parents to Wanffanui from Vi-Hingto'i in lSaii. Here he was educated in the old Grammar 'School and later at the Colleeriave School Then he took up farming, first at Mar-s Hill f.nd later at Midhirst and Peinberton. About toil years ago he retired from that active life, and took up his residence at Westmere. 'Mr McGregor always took an active part in anything which tended to further hte interests of the district in which he resided, taking his share on various public bodies He was chairman of the Taranaki Coimtv Council. Mr McGregor was one of the best type of pioneer farmers. His briglil, genial nature will be greatly missed. In 187'! he married a daughter of the late Mr David Rtrachan. and is survived by his wife and three sons and three da.ujrM.ers Mr McGregor was one of the original settlers (in the Beaconsfield road and a member of Stratford's first County Council. He left the district tor Raetihi about 20 years ago.
