GOLF.

The New Plymouth Club will officially open their links at Waiwakaiho with a mixed foursome on Saturday, April 5. Kntries will close with the secretary on Thursday, April 3, and opponents wi'll be drawn. Players are asked to note the alteration of local rules relative to the thirteenth hole. The ground between the tee and (lie fence and all ground outside the fences is now "Out of Bounds." The hazard between the thirteenth and fourteenth fairways is a water hazard only if the ball lies in water; otherwise it must be played. An energetic committee has taken control of a flairs and the links are now in a greatly improved condition. The fairways are clear and the approaches to the green have been cut; the rushes between the thirteenth and fourteenth fairways and around the twelfth and sixteenth greens have been cut, so that they are fair hazards to play out of, with no chance of lost balls; the greens arc being top-dressod, and the worms killed. Everything conducive to good play that can be thought of is being done, so that by Easter the course should be in better order than ever before. We are informed that, from inquiries received, competitors are expected at the faster tournament from Wellington Palmerston North, Feilding and Wanganui, sc everything points to this year's tournament being the most successful vet held.
