In a list of casualties to New Zealanders with the Australian Forces, J. Adams (Hawera) is reported died of sickness.
At St. Mary's Church, Hawera, on Wednesday, My H V. Forsyth w»» married to Miss B. M- Harrison. The ceremony was conducted bj the Kcv. .. II Grant Cowc-n. The bride wm away by her uncle, Mr H. Harrison. The bridesmaid was Miss Iv. Harrison, of Stratford, cousin of the bride. Ilie bridegroom was supported by his brother, Mr vS. Forsyth, of Pihama. An influential deputation waited on Mr. J. M. Dougall, of Christotaswfc on Saturday, with a request that he wonla consent to nomination for the position of Mayor of Christchurch. In intimating the desire of the deputation, Mr. N. L. Macßeth said Christchurch wanted a Mayor who was moderate in his views, and not an extremist. Mr., Dougall said he would like to be Mayor for the next two years. Christchurch should have other than an extremist atthe head of affairs. He had eonaMwwi the position, and believed it was a time for tolerance. He would accsde to fehft request of the deputation, and do best to win any contest that night arise.
