A PROTEST. By Telegraph.—Prera Association. Auckland, March 25The Auckland wateraidera held a stopwork meeting this morning with an almost full attendance, and passed resolutions strongly protesting agaiiist the prolonged delay by shipowners in regard to the payment of increased pay and better working conditions, also against the attempt by the Auckland employers to bring the watersiders into the Arbitration Court. 1 THE "RAILWAY TROUBLEWellington. March 25: : The railway management has now arrived at an "estimate of the • increased cost of various items included in the programme of improved pay and conditions, put forward by the Railway Societies. Conferences will be held with the Railway Officers' Institute on the "26th, and with the A.S.R.S. on the 27th. Afterwards the Minister will submit to the executive of the three societies the schedule of alterations in ihe pay and conditions, which he is prepared to submit to Caibnet This will be on or before March 31. The new schedule, when approved by' Parliament, will be operative from April 1, 1919.
