The promising two-year-old Pannikin won the Hopeful Stakes brilliantly, the time being a record for the race. Sea Princess was left at the post. Elkin and Sextia (first and second) and Carmichael are owned by Sir Ernest Clarke. The favorite, Urstar, was third from last. The Northcote Handicap was a bumping race. Carriole, in the last live furlongs, got a good run .or the rails and just won. The favorite, Tararu Jack, lost his rider early in the Steeples. The favorite, Snub, led most of the way in the King's Plate, and won decisively. Star Comedian was last to the four furlongs, but finished well. In ihe Farewell, Nanna led early but finished in the ruck. Marshall, the rider of Jioontree in the Northeolc, was suspended for a moiilh for boring.
