J.IVE STOCK SALF.S. ADDINGTON. Christchurch, March 19. At the Addington market to-day there were fairly large yaudings of almost, all classes ot stock. There was a weaker tone throughout the whole market, and prices for both cattle and sheep were easier; The store sheep entry included consignments from the North Island and Kaikoura. Cood ewes showed little change, but rougher sorts were easier. Supplies of stock awaiting slaughter at the freezing works has caused buyers to restrict their operation, and this has particular reference to the fat lamb market, where prices declined fully 3s per head, vendors having to accept the low rates offered them, and take the lambs home in face of the present dry weather and the scarcity of food. Store lambs were also dull of sale, and declined 2s to 3s 6d per head. Fat sheep, which were offered in larger numbers than for some time past, were easier by 3s to 5s per head, and fat cattle showed a drop of 20s to 30s per head. Store cattle were very dull of sale, but there was a fair demand for dairy cows. Store sheep—Best 2-tooth ewes 28s to 30s 3d, medium 2-tooth ewes 23s to 20s 6d, lighter 2tooth ewes 19s to 225, good 4-tooth ewes 24s 9d, good 6 and 8-tooth ewes 20s to 245, good lambs 16s to 18s 6d, medium lambs 14s 6d to 15s 7d, lighter lambs lis 9d to 13s, cull lambs down "s, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 22s 3d to 25s 9d, fat sheep and extra prime wethers to 38s 9d, prime wethers 30s to 38s, lighter wethers 25s 9d to 29s 6d, merino wethers 18s 3d to 22s 6d, prime ewes 28s to 32s 2d, medium ewee 24s to 27s 6d, lighter ewes 19s to 23s 6d, fat lambs prime 24s to 23s 3d, medium 203 to 23s 6d, lighter 16s to 19s 6d. Fat cattle —Extra prime steers to £2O, prime steers £l4 2s 6d to £l7 ss, ordinary steers £ll 2s 6d to £l4, extra prime heifers £l6 15s. prime heifers £9 to £l2, prime cows £lO 12s 6d to £l2, ordinary cows £7 to £lO. Store cattle—Calves £ll to £2 15s 6d, 2%year heifers £ 4 16s to £ 6 2s 6d, best dry cows £5 to £B, old cows £2 to £4 10s, heavy bulla £lO to £l4 10s, lighter bulls £5 to £9, dairy cows £7 to £l6 ss.
Pigs—Choppers-£5 to £9 9s, baconers £5 to £8 (equal to 9%d per lb), porkers £2 Is to £3 5s (equal to 10%dperib), best stores £3 to £3 16s, medium 42s to 5Gs, smaller 32s to 40s, weaners 12s 6d to 18s.
BTJRNSIDE Dunedin, March 19. At the Burnside market 221 fat cattle were yarded. Extra prime bullocks £22 to £23, prime £l9 to £2l, medium to good £l6 to £l7 10s, extra prime heifers £l9, prime £l4 to £ls ss, medium to good £l2 to £l3 18s, others £ 9 upwards. Fat sheep—29o2 penned. The sale dragged owing to freezing buyers not being very keen on account of shortage of shipping and freezing space. Best much on par at late rates, lighter 2s to Is 6d easier. Extra prime heavy wethen 518, prime 44s to 4fis, medium to good 37s to 40s, light 30s to 335, extra prime heavy ewes 42s 6d, prime 393 9d, medium 28s to 31s, light aged ewes 19s to 245. Lambs—lo34 penned, extra prime 35s to 39s good 27s to 29s 6d, unfinished 18s upwards.
