UKRAINE IN HANDS OF TERRORISTS BLOODY BATTLE WITH FRENCH. Received March 21, 0.50 p.m. London, March 20. The Australian Press Association understands that desertions from the Bolshevik forces in north Russia are increasing, and also that arms and material are deficient. The Petrogratl garrison is disaffected, and even the Chinese, on whom the Bolsheviks mainly relied, are insubordinate and complaining of insufficient food. Bolshevik troops made a rapid advance m the Ukraine. Almost the whole country is in their hands. The French garrison at Nikolaiev withdrew bv the sea after a severe battle, in which'over 5000 Bolsheviks were killed.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. REVOLUTION IN PETROGRAD. It is reported by wireless that the Russian Reds defeated the troops of Generals Djenekin and Petloura, who made great efforts to cover the complete evacuation of Odessa. M.
