■ WEST END MATCHES. At the West End green yesterday afternoon the first of the challenge j matches for the Gray Cup was played | between rinks skipped by J. D. Sole and |F. J, Hill, the former winning with a (margin of 29 points to 10. In the final of the Junior Championship of the club, which was fought out between Bullot and White, the victory went to Bullot. STRATFORD DEFEATS ELTHAM. Three rinks from Eltham were defeated at Stratford in the banner match decided at Stratford yesterday. The green was in good order, but an overcast sky made the atmosphere a bit chilly towards the close of play. The visitors were outplayed right through the game. Scores, Stratford mentioned first:— Woodhead, Sanderson, Rowe, King (s.) 28 v. Towers, Jenkins, Carman, Judd (s.) 18. Hillock, Fookes, Lyons, McMillan (s.) 28 v. NEW PLYMOUTH v. STRATFORD. Four rinks from New Plymouth also visited Stratford yesterday and had an enjoyable game, victory going to the visitors by the substantial margin of 47 points. Only one rink was keenly contested, Allen v. Johnston, and was closely watched. The brothers Smart and Fookes, however, carried toor many guns for Morison, Sangster, and Sharp. HAWERA DEFEATS INGLEWOOD. Four rinks from Inglewood visited Hawera yesterday to play a banner match, and although Inglewood enjoyed the outing, victory went against them by. 90 points to 60. Longbottom, Olson, Gudgeon, Leslie (s.) 16 v. Hollard (s.) 32. Martin, Surrey, J. Drake, Morton (s.) 20 v.'Parkinson (s.) 15. STRATFORD CLUB COMPETITIONS. The president, W. McDonald, with five wins and no losses, has won Section B of the singles championship of the Stratford Club. W. Harris, with four wins, heads Section A, and will probably meet W. McDonald in the final. Midhirst and Stratford Dairy Companies are playing a tournament on the Stratford green on Wednesday. All the high-testers will be there, and over-runs will be carefully watched. OPUNAKE v. AUROA. A Banner match was played on Wednesday between Auroa and Opunake, on the Opunake green. Mr Feaver, president, welcomed the visitors, and Mr Buxton, Auroa, responded.
