COMPETITION.

ELTHAM WIN SHIELD, The annual competition for the shield between Stratford and Eltham was held at Taumata Park, Eltham, yesterday afternoon, and attracted a fair attendance of interested spectators. Victory went to the Eltham Brigade in the three events, and they deserved the win, which betokens evidence of steady practise. The work of both brigades was clean and effective and the times generally well up to competition average. The following are the details: — Five men carry gear.—Eltham (Fake, Glentworth, Cullen, Narbey, and Rogers), 3G2-ssec, pen. lsec, total 37 2-ssec, 1; Stratford (Pearce, Croft, Grubb, Brocklebank, Miller), 48 2-osec, 2. Three men carry gear.—Eltham (Fake, Cullen, Glentworth), 22sec, 1; Stratford (Pearce, Croft, and Grubb) did not compete through a blow-out. Two men (dry).—Eltham (Fake and Glentworth), 43sec, lsec. pen., 44sec, 1; Stratford (Brocklebank and Grubb), 45 2-ssec, 2.
