■ Mr. E. A. Rowe, M.Sc, who is joining k the staff of the Boys' High School, it the son of Mr. T. W. Rowe, M.A., LL.B., lecturer in law at Canterbury College, and has had a brilliant scholastic career. He was for two years head boy at Christ's College, at which he carried olf nearly thirty prizes in' sll subjects. He was several times Tailored prizeman in English literature and in history, and in his final year was Balfour divinity prizeman. In 1912 he was the winner of an entrance scholarship, but being under age, was* unable to take it. In 1013 he again won a scholarship and was also awarded the Senior Somes Scholarship. While at Canterbury College Mr. Rowe 'carried off numerous prizes in chemistry- and physios and took his M.Sc. degree With honors in chemistry. He was the editor of the Canterbury College "Review," and was the winner of the Review prim in 1917 for a critical English e»»ay. For Bomo time prior to the signing of' the armistice Mr. Rowe was a phvelcal and bayonet instructor at Trentham.
