THE ATHENIC MEN WELCOMED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March -J. A most enthusiastic reception was given this morning to 748 ollicers and men who returned by the Athenic, and to 184 soldiers' wives who came out by the vessel. The Weather was fine and the general public turned out in thousands. The steamer came alongside the King's wharf shortly before 8 o'clock and the landing arrangements were carried out without a hitch. The civil service girls' choir, the Patriotic Society band and the Salvation Army band took part.. ' The soldiers' wives were entertained at morning tea in the Town by the Mayoress arid the men oi.the Returned Soldiers' Club.
