INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, March 19. It is reported that a portion of the Nieholls' estate farm lias changed hands. Citizens were well represented at the Recreation Grounds on Sunday last, when the New Plymouth Band rendered an excellent programme of music. The band has always responded to invitations lo assist at our functions, and it is quite pleasing to note that in appreciation of the response the hand is to again visit us in the near future.
A typographical error crept into last week's notes, in referring to Mr. Fraser's meeting. It stated that he addressed about thirty citizens, whereas it should have read about eighty citizens. Privates Gus Burr and Tom Kay, of Tarata, two Main Body boys, arrived home by the mail train on Monday evening last.
The many friends of Father Long, who has been a patient in Nurse Bennett's private hospital, will be pleased to learn that he is progressing favorably. Mr. Hooper, late engineer to'the Paeroa Council, has been appointed to fill a similar position here in Inglewood. Asters and a varied assortment of other ftotfers are blooming profusely in the garden attached to the public school, whilst the native shrub plantation, where over forty varieties are in evidence, is doing well.
With a view of raising funds to further the Plunket Nurse work in this district a grand euchre party and dance will be held to-morrow evening. Four rinks of Inglewood bowlers journey to Hawera on Thursday to try conclusions with the Hawera' teams.
