There will be races at Woodville today and to-morrow, and the runners include the Taranaki horses Depredation, luali, Simonides, Kolmr, Haversack and Paddington Green. The local division left for Woodville on Monday. A good field of thirteen figure in the Woodville Cup. Reed Ribbon is quit# equal to carrying 9.0 in such company, nnd with Battle Long, Depredation and Somiino,. should carry the bulk of the investments. With the sting out of the ground Depredation should show his form, but Red Ribbon may keep him busy. Sixteen hold their ground in the Electric Handicap, and such smart beginjiters as Torfreda, Bonnie Briar and Demos may have to be reckoned with There is a whisper about Simonides. but followers of form will prefer the chances oF the more consistent ones mentioned above. The hack liurdles are a good lot, lmt | the three top weights may divide favoritism. Whiro and Ore Ore are both very well at present. Considerable interest will be taken in the appearance of Betholia, for whom 70Hgns was refused lately, in the Trial Plate. Transmission and Consultation will command respect in the Welter. Rs- ■ cc>t form points to ths» former. I The Flying Handicap looks very open! | Snmarang, Restful and Stuttere ?an I travel fast for six furlongs, but Old ' Gold's running last week may impress ! punters most. i Some good horses are engaged in the Borough Welter Handicap, and Gnldstream, Padd'mgton Green nnd BirkenI vale are likely to have friends. The ; top weight, has been unfortunate lately, i but may run with better luck a'; Wood.julla.
