j A STEAMER ON FIKB. I Suva, March 18. | A wireless message was received at ; 11.20 last night stating that the steamer |J. A, Cox (Captain Anderson), bound from Pago Pago to Sydney, was on Are jin the forehold. The fire was caused by the ignition of phosphorus. Arrangements were made for the steamer Levuka to go to the Cox's assistance, but at 3.40 this morning a report was received that the fire was under control, and that the voyage to Sydney had been resumed. ANGLO-AUSTRALIAN WIRELESS. London, March 13. The Anglo-Australian wireless project is arousing wide attention in the press. Cable experts state that the traffic indij cates that there will be room for hath systems in the near future, and that it is unlikely that the interests of tha Pacific cable -will be seriously, United Service.
