NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

■a. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council was held last night, there being present his Worship the Mayor (Mr C. H- Burgess), Ore. U. W. Browne, K. J. Deare, W. A. Collis, W. F. Short, F. J. Hill, J. W. Hayden, E. Griffiths and ./. Clarke. The official departmental and committee reports, ate already pirbfiiahed, were considered and approved i WORKS' COMMITTEE. Subsequently a meeting of the Works Committee was held, the same councillors being presentla connection with the matter of tho deputation to the Minister of Public Works and the Minister of Railways relative to the development of the hydroelectric scheme and the StratfordOkahukura railway, which was deferred from last meeting, the council decided to support the deputation and suggested that the meeting should take place at Stratford if possible. It was decided that the council should visit its Toko reserves on the same day that the Ministerial deputation meets at. Stratford. The application of Mr Mannix for permission to crrct a verandah, supported by posts, in Devon strcet. was declined. It was decided to ask the town clerkto write for particulars of the Hamilton Fiorough Council housing scheme.
